Yorkshire Sculpture Park Engagement Session: David and Rebecca

At the beginning of the shoot, Dave asked me how many pictures I was going to take, and  my first impressions were that having his picture taken wasn’t something he was that keen on.However, as soon as we started shooting – that opinion changed. He and Becky were so relaxed in front of the camera! Then I secretly started to think that they had been practising, because they were good. Really good.

Dave and Becky met at university, where Dave studied Design and Becky Fine Art. Not are they only a gorgeous, stylish couple, they are also great company and good fun to be around.

As we walked around The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, I got to see first hand the way they make each other laugh, the way they are together and it made more excited about their May Wedding.

Roberts Park Engagement Session: Rob and Amy

I love it when I come home from an Engagement session and I’m still smiling. It sounds cheesy, I know. But ask Jim he’ll vouch for the smiling for no reasons and the conversation about them that will follow. It was so funny when he said that, and she said, then we all laughed…….etc etc. When I came back from meeting Rob and Amy the above scenario strongly played out.

As we wandered through the streets of Saltaire and into the park it became apparent fast that Robert and Amy are the perfect for each other. They smile together from start to finish, laugh together and are in love. Amy is the sister of Jodi, who was one of my first brides, and I am SO excited about their wedding this year not just because of them, but I get to see her fabulous family again!

Rob and Amy, thank you for being so relaxed, so much fun – so you. I can’t wait for you wedding this year. x

It didn’t take them anytime getting relaxed in front of the camera.Amy-and-Rob-Engagement-Session-Blog-2 Amy decided to have a wedding day hair trail for the shoot, so she could see how it would be. Such a fabulous idea – and it looked gorgeous!Amy-and-Rob-Engagement-Session-Blog-3 Amy-and-Rob-Engagement-Session-Blog-5Amy-and-Rob-Engagement-Session-Blog-7

Japenese Gardens Engagement: John and Jennifer.

Last Saturday I met with John, Jennifer and Bobbi. We headed to the Japanese gardens at Horsforth Park for their Engagement session. There was still a little but of snow/ice on the ground where we where, but for the main part we just had blue sky, with the hint of sunshine here and there.

It doesn’t take any time at all to see how natural they are together,so natural. They make each other laugh easily and anyone would be able to see that these two, together, are a perfect fit. And then there’s Bobbi, their very cute child dog, who was far more interested obtaining treats than posing for a cover of Dogue for me  - although I did manage to sneak a couple in!

John and Jennifer, thank you for being SO fabulous on this shoot. You both rocked it like pro’s and I know that your wedding day is going to be so much fun.

Feeling good on your engagement session.

When you have your own place you want some pictures up.Right? We never really had  too many  pictures for the house that were that great and that weren’t taken at arms length. So, I contacted a friend and arranged to have some taken – of me and Jim. To be honest it was quite daunting, and we both felt completely daft. But, at the end when I was handed the images I loved them and one still adorns my wall now. So when you get in front of my lens, it ok. I’ve been there, and all I want to do is get you both relaxed, have some fun and give you some fabulous new pictures for your wall.

Its getting to the time of year where a lot of clients that are booked for weddings later in the year are starting to have their engagements sessions. I love engagement sessions. It’s where I can get to meet my clients on a different level and have some fun with them. 99% of all the clients I have will have had an engagement session with me before hand.

To me, when you feel good you look great and  a way to feel good is to be comfortable. Clothing can have a massive impact into how you feel. One of the reasons I think that brides look so fabulous on their wedding day is a mixture of marrying their love, being happy and feeling  great! They are wearing a dress that makes them feel like a million dollars! If wearing heels make you feel great – pop a pair on. If your nails painted give you a bit of omph – get the paint on.  If rocking your converse is where it’s at – get them on! You feel better in a dress? You get the picture – look fabulous, by making yourself feel fabulous. If youR having a makeup trail or a hair trail, why not sync it with the date of your engagement session, see how it looks on the photos. I had a makeup artist to my make up for my pictures and it made me feel so much more confident.

There is a good chance your going to have these pictures for a long time. You don’t have to wear clothes that are matching, but compliment each other. I hope this helps a little bit. Happy Wednesday xx

Chris and Lucy Engagement Session Kirkstall Abbey

The snow was supposed to stop falling around 12, but when I met Chris and Lucy at the Abbey it was showing no signs of slowing. Undeterred, clad in wellies we took a little stroll around the grounds. Chris and Lucy told me they were a little nervous before the shoot, although I didn’t see any of it. By the time end of the shoot came round they were sitting in snow and snowballing each other. My kind of clients! This was my first engagement session of the year and it felt soo good to back into the swing of things.

Chris and Lucy – thank you for being so fabulous! x

Here are just a few of my favourites.

Stuart and Gemma – Engagement Session.

Their story reminds me that love at fist sight exists. When Stuart was home visiting his parents, he accompanied them on a shopping trip.On this particular trip they went to Laura Ashley and his mum decided to purchase. When they got to the counter, thats when he saw her. But unlike the movies, music didn’t start to play, ending with him declaring his love and them falling into each others arms. It was much better.

Stuart didn’t say anything at that particular moment, but he was already forming a plan. When he got home he decided to write a letter. He wrote to the head office and told them about the fabulous customer service he experienced in the shop by a certain girl, with the hope that maybe, just maybe it would find its way to her. And it did. Gemma received the email and saw it had the senders details on, so she emailed him to thank you. And the rest they say is history. Only is this case its just the begging, because Stuart and Gemma have a fabulous winter wedding planned, that I am thrilled to be apart of.

Happy Monday x

Kev and Katie Engagement Session.

When you get around Kev and Katie you smile. It can’t be helped. Whatever they have bubbles over, and you smile with them. They laugh always.Together. When we went for our engagement session at Roberts Park, it was like meeting up with friends. As we walked through the park with the sun shining, we got to know each other more in between taking a few pictures and of course talking about their wedding day.

This is one of the  luxuries of my job – I get to my fabulous people, and I am so grateful for it!

When we started the shoot Katie told me that Kev was a little  nervous, but the way he was rocking the poses, I don’t believe one word of it ;-)

David and Lee-Anne Engagement Session

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting David and Leanne for their engagement session. We met up at Hollings Hall, where they will be getting married this September.  We were lucky enough to have some sunshine, and not the crazy hail, wind and rain of late.

We strolled round the grounds and picked up some places we can use again on their Wedding Day, and we used a bit of shade here and there to shelter from the cloudless sky.

David and Leanne have a very handsome little bot – Lewis! Look at those blue eyes!

We gave Lewis a sign to hold – and he started getting all super cute on us… I just love these next few frames ;-)

Happy Tuesday. x

Morgan & Katie:Engagement

Some nights out are Ok, some are fab, and some are the kind you meet the man your one day going to marry.Katie experienced the latter. On a night out with friends she saw Morgan, she approached him, they talked and went their separate ways. A few months later fate had them meet again. This time Morgan approached Katie, they talked, but since have not gone their separate ways.  They are living life together, and will next week seal their love with I DO!

I met Morgan and Katie for the engagement session at the stables where Katie keeps Rimmy. We were keeping our fingers crossed for nice weather and it didn’t disappoint. Being at the stables we were able to get Rimmy in a few shots as well, who wasn’t t0o keen to be photographed, but then warmed up for a couple (with the promise of an apple).

When you get around Morgan and Katie, you can see why they are together. Why they are getting married. They melt into one another with ease, their laughter comes naturally and they take darn good photographs! I am SO excited to be documenting their wedding in one week, I know its going to be phenomenal ;-) x

Happy Friday x

Richard and Jo Engagement session; St Ives

Richard and Jo are two of the nicest people I’ve met. My friend Fran passed my name onto them, and I’m so glad that she did! As we walked around St Ives  Richard and Jo allowed me to document them. Their love and the way there are.Together. They have such a natural way with each other, like their know each other completely.

The weather was good to us and give us a dry day with soft light. We walked around together creating a plan for the wedding day, and every now and again we stopped for a picture. I can’t express how much I love it when couples get comfortable in front of the lens. And after the first couple of frames were taken these  fell completely into comfortable mode.

Richard and Jo, thank you so much for a fab day, I cant wait for your wedding! Here are a few faves from the session. x
