Friends and challenges.

You don’t need a big group of followers. You don’t need buckets of praise. Reassurance and honest words from a friend mean more. Much more. My circle of friends is wide, with different interests, hobbies and lifestyles. But, there is one who is a photographer and helps me push myself, and my boundaries. Our friendship that has formed through at meeting a workshop has become fab. Living proof that workshops are not all just tech details and learning. It can be about making connections that last, and push you. We challenged each other to blog. 5 days a week for a month. And this is the last day. I’ve really enjoyed writing more and sharing. So much so, I might just keep it up.

Have a great weekend!

The memories I see.

When I first started weddings, my voice was a little quieter. I didn’t quite fully know how to advise me clients how I wanted them to get the better picture. The one which saw working the best.I found it hard to direct them away from in front of the particular background because after all that was maybe one of the reasons they picked the venues. But what good is a lovely back drop with everyone squinting and the light not being the most complimentary.Or it just not feeling right.

At a wedding this last week, whilst doing the formals, I asked the bridal party to walk with my to a field entrance at the top of the car park. Nothing to far away – the weather was playing hit and miss and I wanted to make the best of it whilst I had the chance.  On my way there, staff  members advised that the usual place for formals is on the grass. I kindly thanked them for their advice, but advised that it wouldn’t be the best on account of the wet grass and the ladies heels. I didn’t want to say that I didn’t want it to be like everyone else for them, I wanted them to have more. But like I said, I thanked him for his help, explained about the heels and walked with the party to the top of the car park. You would have never have known we stood at the top of the car park thanks to the gated entrance to a field and the bunting that hung over head. So if I ask you to walk to a spot that you may want to raise an eyebrow at, please bear with me, I want to give you the best memories I see.

Happy Thursday everyone x

The season. Gin and Blueberries.

Wedding Season. Fabulous but busy wedding season. I have a month of the season left before I go away for a few weeks. I have had such an amazing time with clients, and feel luck to be able to meet so many fabulous people. When I’m away im looking forward to recharging but in a weird way re-energizing. Having plenty of time soaking in the sun dreaming and thinking of new ways to push forward with this business of mine that I hug tight. But until then, im going to keep shooting, keep editing, and try my hand a new dessert. Blueberries an Gin.

Happy Wednesday everyone.

Morgan and Katie Wedding.

When I arrived at the Lodge, the place was brimming with excitement. The girls were getting made up  in the rooms, and the guests were starting to get ready and others were arriving. The sun was shining, the sky was  blue, and a most amazing wedding was set to begin. Katie and Morgan and somewhat naturals when it comes to pictures. Their love is as real on camera as it is off.

Katie was such a beautiful bride, who smiled.All.Day. Her dress was created by her mum. Yes, you can re-read that line. Her mum made her the fabulous dress that she wore. Liz is one super talented lady- she also made the garter that Katie was wearing.Everything about the wedding oozed style and elegance. The wedding breakfast and reception was held in a Marque to the side of the lodge and the tables were filled with fresh flowers, beautiful greenery and ornate candles and holders.

Morgan and Katie married at the Middleton Lodge, with perfect summer weather. Rimmi (from their engagement session) made an appearance and gave us all a giggle trying to get him in a picture without eating anyone bouquet! I would just like to say how amazing the staff were at this venue as well. They worked well, helping extended the itinerary in places where we needed extra time and the whole day ran perfectly.

Morgan and Katie, thank you. Thank you for being so fabulous and so in love. I really do wish you a full long lifetime of happiness.

I just want to leave a few fabulous details below:

Venue –  Middleton Lodge

Flowers – The Mulberry Tree

Dress  -Made by Brides Mum,

Brides Head Piece – Victoria May Vintage

Make-Up – MUA Amy Whitehead

Hairdresser  - Donna Rhodes

Band   - Revolution 9 Band.

This is the Lodge cat  below. Lazy. Very lazy but cute.

Katie was given  a surprise gift from Morgan just before she was going to get into her dress. Her mum passed her a box and when the Turquoise box came out, we all it was going to be good. And then she opened box and saw these. Amazing.

I loved Dad’s reaction on seing his daughter.

Yes, this girls were really all this beautiful!!

Stuart and Gemma – Engagement Session.

Their story reminds me that love at fist sight exists. When Stuart was home visiting his parents, he accompanied them on a shopping trip.On this particular trip they went to Laura Ashley and his mum decided to purchase. When they got to the counter, thats when he saw her. But unlike the movies, music didn’t start to play, ending with him declaring his love and them falling into each others arms. It was much better.

Stuart didn’t say anything at that particular moment, but he was already forming a plan. When he got home he decided to write a letter. He wrote to the head office and told them about the fabulous customer service he experienced in the shop by a certain girl, with the hope that maybe, just maybe it would find its way to her. And it did. Gemma received the email and saw it had the senders details on, so she emailed him to thank you. And the rest they say is history. Only is this case its just the begging, because Stuart and Gemma have a fabulous winter wedding planned, that I am thrilled to be apart of.

Happy Monday x

FILM.

After paying my money I speed walked over to the car, flung my bag on the passenger seat and opened the envelope. I sifted through the prints, putting down the ones that hadn’t worked,  sifting through the ones that had.  I just had my roll of film developed. Well, technically that is a white lie, the first roll of film didn’t work. So I quickly bought a second and used it in about a day.My subjects were just  who and what was around me, which consisted of me, my cats, Elijah, my sister and Jim. Oh and not forgetting the walls in my office, clothes, plants and paths. I know, total rock and roll!!

But, even though I was just playing just to get into the swing of things – it worked. Some of them I actually love. But its the feel of a picture in your hand I love the most.  I think this is why I love film and Polaroid so much, because you can touch it. And the way you have to wind on – taking you away from happy snapping.I’m definitely not ready to shoot a wedding just yet but maybe a portrait session…

Blog Lovin

If your reading this you probably know that I like to blog. I also like to visit other blogs. A lot. Sometimes before I start my work for the day or after checking emails I will browse through some of my favourites. Sometimes its when I can squeeze that extra time into the day to enjoy reading them. I recently just discovered blog lovin. Blog Loving lets me keep all my favourite blogs in one place, and when they update, I get updated. kind of like an RSS put its all in one place. Im quite new to it, but it seems to work great so far. Especially for the memory. Instead of having to remember your favorites, they just appear. Like magic! ;-)

Happy Wednesday.

Oliver James.

Let me introduce you to Oliver James  - an absolute  cutie, who smiles all the time. When I arrived at the family home he was still having his morning nap, so after a coffee and a chat with his mum (one of the loveliest people I’ve met.ever) we decided to give him a little wakeup. And literally as soon as he opened his eyes, he was smiling! He was so well-behaved all day and such a pleasure to photograph. Natalie, his mum, wanted some pictures just to document her boy and this age and to document the time that she has spent with him on maternity leave. I have to say,I loved every minute if this shoot! It’s the kind of shoot that whilst your editing you’re smiling. And I love that kind of editing.

Olive James, I cannot wait to see you again in October!.x

Happy Tuesday xx

I’m so excited to share what we created. For everyone involved in yesterday – thank you! And heres to doing it all again. Soon!
