Winner of the Giveaway!

This year I did well.Really well. I started my birthday shenanigans on Friday and ended them Wednesday – all for me turning 27. My actual birthday was on Tuesday and in light of it I decided to have a little giveaway – because you only turn 27 once, right?!

I uploaded a picture to Facebook and all people had to do was leave a comment with the shoot they would like – Child,Baby,Love or Me. I put all the names of the people who commented into a bowl ( Yeah I know it should have been a hat) and picked a name.. The name I pulled out was Cassia Edwards who commented with Baby!! So congratulations Cassia, I’m looking forward to our shoot!!

All the good stuff goes on Facebook first, so sign up, LIKE it and add me as a friend. Next time be the first to know and give yourself a chance to win!!

Wednesday Sharing – Promise Tangeman.

very time Wednesday – for our sharing session I can’t believe another week has gone by. Anyone else feel like they sometime need more hours in the day – or maybe an extra day in the week? Like I’ve said before Wednesday sharing is one of my favourite things to post. I have discovered artist’s and people who have made such an influence by accident or from somebody else, so I hope that you guys reading this will find the same.

Today I want to introduce  let you know about one of the most creative individuals I personally know of- Promise Tangeman. This lady’s skills and artistic vision is a-mazing! She is a designer of all sorts. Mainly websites but magazines, album designs, invitations, branding – are all in there. Her work is really fresh and current. But, the thing that I think that draws me to her the most in the variety of her designs. She is not a designer it seems with one template that she changes colour for different people. No, everything is so different from the next and personable to each client. To see what I mean you would probably have to check her portfolio out.  She also blogs, and shares how she designs, and the processes that go into it- along with her life, general ramblings and her hair. Yes, she has very cool BIG hair and will help you achieve the look. But seriously if you need some fresh inspiration take a look she really is great…

I was trying to look for cool ‘Promise’ inspired picture. But then I saw this and thought.. awwww.. Cute. Figaro doing what he does best – getting comfy!

Happy Wednesday! x

Happy Birthday + a FREE photo shoot!

This morning  I walked into the kitchen with the smell of freshly brewed coffee on the table, next to a huge vase of flowers. Breakfast being prepared with Pan au Chocolates waiting on the side to be warmed. Now, I don’t start all my days like this, but today I turn 27 and it seems I am in for a day of treats. I opened beautiful gifts from my family and friends and feel very lucky indeed!

With it being my birthday I thought it would be nice to give a gift as well. And the best thing I thought of was a shoot. Yep, that’s right a free photo shoot for either a baby, child, couple or portrait session. All you have to do is go to my Facebook page here  and leave a comment under this picture stating either – Baby – Child  - Love or Me.

I will then put all the names into a hat and pick out a winner. This is by far the fairest way I know. Oh, and why not pass this on to your friends so they have a chance as well. This only last for the next 24 hours, and the winner will be announced on Thursday.

So head over and leave your comment!!!

Happy birthday to me ;-)  xx

Silvana Di Franco

I love finding photographers whose work I love. Not just like.But love. Sometimes I wish they could blog twice a day – just so I can see more of their  work. But, instead I settle for following them on instagram, Facebook, twitter or pintrest – does this make a stalker?! ;-) Silvana Di Franco has this sort of effect. She is based in San Francisco, uses a mix of digital and film, and is such a talented artist. I have been following her blog for some time, maybe a couple of years or more and every post is beautiful. Even if it’s just about the dinner party she had with friends or if it’s a wedding she documented, every image is timeless and inspiring. I think that’s the aim isn’t it, to create a timeless piece.Something with depth. To me, I think it lies in the simple editing style. The barley retouched look,  the natural kind of feel that gives an image its magic,no matter how clear or soft the focus. But, enough of me trying to explain this. Head over to her and site and see what I mean. I especially love the way she incorporates text into the image, or on a colour block…. but like I said go and take a look. This is definitely one to add to your favourites  – Oh and maybe your instagram/pintrest/facebook/twitter feed. ;-)

Happy Wednesday people. Have a fabulous day x

My take on using text with pictures….

8 weeks and number 14.

I’m not quite sure where the idea for this one came from, but it got put on there anyway. And, I quite liked having the mini time frame – something that was easily acheivebale. I mean 8 weeks flys – ask any bride to be planning her wedding! ;-) So yesterday was my 8th week of my consecutive gym session. Number 14.Done. Yes, it’s another one off my list. I know its not a ground breaker or life changer, but it was a goal. I changed my schedule accordingly to make it happen ( I know you professional gym goers are rolling your eyes – you do that all the time). And in celebration of my 2nd accomplishment I am going to purchase some new gym clothes. Because really, I have accomplished the task but I aint looked cool 1 week doing it! ;-)

Good bye old trainers!

Sam and Julia; Pre Wedding

So, I thought I would start the week with an engagement session. Last weekend I joined Sam and Julia, at their wedding venue for their pre-wedding shoot. This was a great opportunity for me to see the venue and to let Sam and Julia get acquainted with my camera. I shot the whole session on my 50mm and 85mm, and they were the perfect tools for the job.

Stubton Hall when their wedding is taking place is amazing. The decor inside is done to the highest finish and the Music Room where the wedding will be held is beautiful. Lit full of light with huge windows at the front and back, its stunning. In fact, the light the whole day was amazing, and the different rooms, walls and seating area’s gave us some really fab backgrounds.

The thing I loved most about this session wasnt the venue or the light, but them. They smile all the time. And I love the way Sam can make Julia laugh. But, you’ll see what I mean. Here are a few from the session. (okay, well quite a few!)

Happy Monday xx

Lee and Angela; Pre- Wedding shoot.

Last weekend I was thrilled to do my first pre-wedding shoot of 2012! And, I couldn’t have asked for a better start. I had dry weather, great location and fabulous models! Lee and Angela are marrying in June, so we went to St.Ives to get a little used to my camera ;-)  We had another addition as well Chloe – Lee’s daughter. She was shy for the first part, but by the end I’m pretty sure I made a new friend.

Lee and Angela were comfortable in front of the camera and comfortable with each other (which I love). I think what I love most about this couple is how they laugh. Together. Lee and Angela, I can’t wait for June… x Here our a few from our session.

Asa + Lee-Anne Happy Anniversary.

Yesterday my sister and brother-in-law celebrated their 2nd  Wedding Anniversary. And let me tell you its flown! 2 years later and they have moved house (twice) and had the most beautiful little boy.  I stil remember so much of her wedding. The days before how my mum sat and sewed sequins on the dress.I remember the night before, getting our nails done, getting all the last details finished. The rain of the morning of the wedding, and the fact that really it didn’t matter. Yes, of course sunshine would have been ideal but she was marrying her love, and the rain just really didn’t make a difference.  I didn;t take my sister’s wedding pictures – but I did take some of her on the morning. I remember that I was still using a 20D and I had just got my 50mm and I was so eager to use it. My sister looks at her wedding album all the time, and she decided to use some of my bridal prep pictures. And I know, because I was there, that each time we see them  they take us right back to that morning. x

Happy Anniversary xx Love you both xx

Here is a little picture I took of them just before Elijah arrived.

Cuddles + big sisters.

This week, I met up with my latest model – Annie. She has turn turned 2 weeks old and enjoys feeding time and naps. Which is perfect for me, as I get the chance to take some pictures. It must be hard work  just laying there and looking so sweet. We started off with a few cute sleeping pictures in her baby grow, then had a bit of fun placing her on a dresser. Something different to what I normally do – but love the result. We were then joined by big sister Olive for some cuddles….

I am 1 of 4 children ( 3 girls, 1 boy) I am the youngest of the sisters and know what it feels like to look up to them and want to be like them. Its nice knowing that you don’t just have a sister, you have a friend. The relationship between siblings is a funny thing. I am pretty sure that the laughing and all  the good times you share will always, always, always weigh  out the bad. ;-)

I’m looking forward to watching these two sisters grow up  together. And I know there will be many more cuddles to photograph. x x
