Completing number 24 and The Whip.

I had never heard of them before, so this was a great oppurtunity to start completing the list. On  saturday evening my friend Jen asked if me and Jim wanted to go to a gig with her and her boyfriend Andrew, and we said yes. The band playing was called The Whip, and the sound was electro, but I had never heard of them before. So this is my first completion off the 101 list- number 24!

The gig was held at the Cockpit in Leeds, my first time at that venue as well. I thought that I would take my ‘big’ camera with me. Its not often that I take it out on nights out, but I’m glad on Saturday I did. It was fun playing with the elements I had to work with – dark room, bright coloured lights switching on and off, smoke machines and crowds of people towering above me . I actually quite like the images that I got. They may not be technically correct but I think they are quite nice. I cranked my ISO up, shot wide open and slowed my shutter speed down…

Baby Annie

After the wait of 9 months it was finally time to meet this little lady! Last wednesday little Annie was born. Me and Jim took a visit to see her yesterday and you know I had to get a couple of snaps. Annie is Jims new niece and she really is just the cutest thing. I love the way babies sleep, like they don’t have a care in the world and I suppose at this age they dont… So Annie, here is your first little blog appearance x x

Happy Monday x

The start of the season and my own little space.

Oh hello Friday – your back again. But I’m ready for you! I’m enjoying these quieter times before the season starts, which for me is in the next couple of weeks.. But im looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to meeting more people, attending more workshops, and learning more and more about this beautiful industry. But before all of that starts I’m going to mingle with friends, spend time with family and prepare.

With preparing in my mind, my own little work space is nearly complete. I just need to throw in some pictures here, and a fancy rug there. So with a busy wedding season ahead I’m going to be in my little space a lot! There are still a few spaces left for wedding this summer, so why not pass some details to a  friend. You can view my website at http://www.margauritaphotography.com or you can email me  - natasha@margauritaphotography.com

Happy Friday – and here is a sneak peek of a little piece of my new space!

The preperations.

”Lets start at the very beginning. A very good place to start” Marie and the children sang it best. And on a wedding day that’s exactly where I like to start. The beginning. I like documenting the preparation of the bridal party, because its fun! What is more fun than a group  of girls getting ready for a wedding? It’s the time when the nerves and the excitement are beginning to mix. The final preparations are being made, more often than not bubbly is  being popped and the mood and tone of the day is being set. Best friends, sisters, mothers, dads and daughters together are sharing these moments.  I have brides confirm to me that when they look back at their preparation pictures they feel the giddiness coming back. The nerves. Excitement. Everything. Plus, this is a great time for me when I document some details. The shoes. The dress. Your something borrowed, something blue – the gift that he surprised you with – the flowers he sent. I say this on one of the statements on my website, that I will never ask you to pretend to apply your makeup or cut the cake. And I wont. But I will capture the day as it unfolds.

Happy Thursday.. x

Ja Tecson

Some people ooze the coolness. Others have to try a little harder. I am of the latter. Some people can create a look that makes you stop and take notice – in what ever it is they do. Ja Tecson is this kind of guy.  His work is completely lifestyle. I would really love to be behind the scenes on some of his shoots to see how  he works.  He is based in California, but from what I gather he shoots plenty om Hawaii (lucky or what!)

It’s not just his work that is cool, so is his blog. He updates quite regular whether it be just an image, a video or just a quote. He brings style as an art form to your attention. Treat yourself, head to this guys blog and get some inspiration.

Have a fabulous Wednesday!

Vegas,learning and newborn shoots.

Right now I want to be in Vegas. Not for the casinos, or the lights or the weather (OK, if i was there I might bet a few $$’s). But for the speakers and the networking. I want to be at WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographer’s International). There are a whole host of amazing speakers sharing  their input and knowledge and I want to be there taking the notes and learning as much as I possibly can. Next year I  made a promise to myself that I am going to attend.

But, whilst I may not be in Vegas, I will still be learning. I am attending a 3 day workshop on Newborn photography. And it couldn’t have come at a better time as I have quite a few coming up in the near future. If you would like more information on newborn shoots feel free to email me.. natasha@margauritaphotography.com

Happy Monday.

Ah.. the weekend came. And the weekend went. But I enjoyed every hour. Hanging out with old friends. Making new ones and just enjoying myself. And the weather on Sunday was the perfect way to finish it. I hope that everyone had a good one as well. Over the weekend I saw my family as well, and yep, that little cutie Elijah was there making everyone melt with his ridiculous cuteness. Oh and style. This boy knows how to dress.

Happy Monday xxx

Walls,doors and beautiful light.

We tottered round the streets, cameras in tow-looking. Not for anything in particular, just for something to catch our eye for future shoots. Walls, doors, windows.Anything.Everything.Normally I drive into the city and know where I need to go and do what I have to do. I don’t often take the time just to wander through the streets. But I was really glad that I did.  We found beautiful coloured walls. Reflective panels. Steam grates, and it wasnt just outside, as we wandered past the Library  I wondered how the light would be inside – so we went in. And it was beautiful. Here are just a few of my friend Steve, who was my subject for the day.

Oh hello pretty light.

Orange walls.Just because.

Light.Reflection.

SO want to place a couple.Right.There.

Happy Thursday people, go find yourself some pretty light and walls! xx
