Behind the lens.

Ok, so a few months ago I did a shoot. Normal right? Wrong. This shoot was being recorded and was all about ME! There is a reason that I stay behind the lens. Like many, I am not the biggest fan of my own picture, never mind my own video. Yes.Video. Last year I decided that  I wanted to make a short video for my new website that I hope to launch soon. I wanted to let people see the me that an ordinary headshot wouldn’t be able to show. I intended to create something that would let potential clients see how I am I suppose, the fun, relaxed side of me. The me that likes to laugh with them, and create something to reflect who they are. So, sit back and enjoy the show…..

Wedding Chicks

I came across this blog quite recently. And this is definitely one to book mark. Amy and Jocey – better know as the Wedding Chicks, run a cool and sophisticated operation of finding amazing ideas for weddings.  This is a very cool site for the DIY bride. I love me some personal and hand-made additions to any wedding day, and this site has oodles to get your imagination and hidden artistic genius flowing! (Ah, I cant wait to one day plan me a wedding). They also have a cool colour search section which will help you tie all  the details in your chosen colour palette together, and give you more ideas.Yes, even more than are going round in your brain at the minute.I love wedding sites like this. Your wedding should be a complete reflection of you both, your likes and your love. So give yourself a treat and head over to their site. But be warned, don’t read in work time – you may not get anything done ;-)

And, if you are like me and no zip zero zilch about flowers check out their flower section.. beautiful…

**the below pictures are taken from their site**

Pintrest

I’ve mentioned it before. My habit of magazine scouring for poses. Inspiration. Ideas on how to dress.Things for the house. The list can go on, and so does the pile of papers and pullouts that I keep. Even though I love having something tangible to go through, study and dissect, sometimes it would be easier to see everything at once. Or a few things at once (Or,just have less files of paper). The solution – Pintrest. Its soooo good. I’m just getting started really but I love being able to keep everything I see in one place. It’s quite addictive and you lose some time just browsing ;-) Like I said I’ve just started out, but if you want to see what pintrests me,come check out my boards. And I can promise ill be pinning more ideas soon. Are you on Pintrest? Id love to see what inspires you. Leave you link in the comment box  x

Happy Tuesday x

Surprise.

So we thought hard about the gift. We knew the things that she didn’t want, but not what she did. Family was the only request.

So, we booked surprise flights back to the motherland for a surprise dinner with family and a few days away. I wanted to capture her reaction on camera when she spotted us queuing behind to her to board the plane when she realised it wasn’t just her and dad. But due to having to run to keep from missing our flight I only had  enough time to pull out my passport ;-)

My parents met in Ireland nearly 37 years ago and it will always be a special place to them. And below is how I have always seen them.Side by side. Walking through life.Happy.In love.Together.

Happy Monday. Have a beautiful day x

Polly Alexandre.

”Fine art photography is created primarily as an expression of the artist’s vision”  To me, this is the perfect way to sum up her photography. But, I would also like to throw words like, elegant, timeless, amazing, beautiful, inspiring into the mix as well. Just to name a few. Here is a photographer whose vision I would love to have if only for a day. Every image that Polly takes is stunning. She is a photographer who shoots film, and using her combined technical knowledge with brilliant sense of style, some how makes everything so light and delicate looking. It is actually on my 101 list to have a portrait session by this lady. To me this is what I call fine art. From a personal point of view I find her work so inspirational. Head to her blog to see more beautiful images. x

Happy Birthday Mum.

Today my mum turns 60 and even thought my words will not suffice I intend on trying to let her know just how fabulous she is. And that really, if I was even allowed to choose, I would never choose another. I love her more than I will ever  be able to express. Mums are wonderful people, I don’t think they ever stop thinking about their children.Their love never stops. Why not send a little bit of appreciation their way today. They deserve it.

Happy Birthday mum xx

Wedding Preview.

This weekend I shot my first wedding of 2012! I was honoured to document a beautiful day, with a beautiful couple and their family and friends. And I just wanted to show a little taster.

Happy Monday x

101 in 1001 days.

The idea of starting this list sounded good. But putting it out there for everyone to see? Hmm. What if I didn’t do it all? Didn’t get  everything ticked off my list? What if they sounded daft? But, I decided that by not putting it out there, I wasn’t challenging myself. So im going with it ,and completing them will just makes things a little bit sweeter.

So my 101 in 10o1 days. With the new year here there’s  no better way to start than with a plan. These 101 are a little bit of business mixed with a little bit of fun. Each time I complete a task I’m going to come back and update. I’m looking forward to it! This is such a great way of getting things done. I got the idea from the Day Zero Project (and i stole a few ideas from their too).

Jasmine Star

This is one of the very reasons for my Wednesday sharing posts {and i apologise for the lack of them lately} .I came across this photographer in the states via another photographer in the states, via a photographer in Yorkshire. And this is a blog I have been going back to daily for what will be nearly 4 Years. Daily -  yes, you read that right. When I first came across her blog It was the quite period in my office and the days were not busy and just managing to keep your eyes open all day was a feat in itself. But, when I stumbled across this site I started reading from the beginning and was glad that the phone didn’t ring. Yep, I went to her first blog post and started reading every post. In a matter of days I felt like I knew this person. She was just an average girl working hard at what she loved. But she was personal. She blogged about the everyday – things you could relate to. In time I got to know about her husband, dog, family, friends, faith and just life in general. And amidst all this were FAQ posts and beautiful wedding images.

Photographers can be a funny breed. Some like to keep the know how and the mistakes to themselves. But here I found a person who was willing to share the triumphs  - and the mistakes too. For Christmas Jim bought me her magazine Exposed, and i can confidently say it was up there with my favourite presents. The only downside was that I could have done with it having twice the pages. I took it to Loch Lomond on our christmas break, and like  a book worm got through the 180 magazine in a couple of days.

But, if you want to see editorial wedding images and a laugh at everyday ramblings visit her site. You might not go back everyday, but im sure you will enjoy.
