2011.Review.

If someone would have told the me in 2010 that at the end of 2011 you would have been running your own business for 9 months and featured on a wedding blog I would have raised an eyebrow, would have wanted to believe them, but said thank you kindly – but you have the wrong person. I was the person who clock watched at work. Felt like my headset was a ball and chain.Filled my days browsing wedding blogs.Cried in the car on the way home because this was not how I wanted my life to be.But,this past year has been year has been amazing. I have ventured into the full-time job of running of  my own business, and have been blessed to meet so many brilliant people along the way. Looking back over the past year,I’m proud. For the highs, the lows and even the mistakes I’ve made – their making me a better photographer. I have such a long way to go – I know this. But, my chain and ball has gone and I’m finally starting to feel as if I’m on the right path.

Here are just a few pictures from  this year. To everyone that browses this blog - Thank you. For the ones that leave a comment – your time and words really mean more than you know. My biggest thanks go to the Brides and Grooms, parents and others that book me. Trust in my vision and allow me to live what  I love. Thank you. Here is to a bigger and better New Year!! x x x

Nick and Mollie Wedding.

This December I shot my last wedding of the year. When I first met this couple,I secretly wanted them to book me.  I wanted to be a part of what they are together, and who they are together. Nick and Mollie are an amazing couple, and documenting their day was an absolute pleasure.

Their wedding day was held at Holdsworth House. Nick and Mollies family are the perfect reflection of them and made me  feel so welcomed to be there.

Makeup was done by Lizzie Greenhouse from The treatment room and set the bridal party up to stay looking beautiful all day{not that they needed much help there though..}

When you walk round the house there are all sorts of ornaments all over the place. It gives off a real homely vibe.

Mollies shoes were so pretty. She actually bought two for her day, but decided on these Rachel Simpson ones. Fab choice.

After some the ceremony Nick and Mollie enjoyed catching up with their guests over mulled wine. Then then braved the elements with me whilst it was dry to take some pictures together. I have the best clients. EVER.

Back inside the guests did some more mingling……

Just before the speeches and wedding breakfast I went into the dining room to get some detail shots. I love the  heart wreaths.

The one thing that I will ALWAYS remember from this wedding, apart from the great decor, the laughing, the fantastic bride and groom and everything else that went into making their day unique. Is the way these people shake their tail-feather!!! They know how to have a good time!

Love and Lavender

Sometimes its nice to take a  brain break and get lost in other creativeness. More often than not this helps me get back into the flow of things. A place where I like to go is Love and Lavender.  This blog was created by 2 sister in-laws who had a passion for all things wedding. They showcase so many real weddings, which is what we all like to see. The staged magazines shots are great, but its something about real weddings that make ideas seem doable! They also showcase so many different photographers, so you can see a whole variety of styles and personality. So if you’re a bride looking for some inspiration of just like looking at happy people, relax your mind and spend some time on their blog ;-)

Happy Thursday and oh, its only 10 sleeps until Christmas.

Jasper.

There is something about the way a baby smiles and sleeps that is magic.Really. Last week John and Liz welcomed me into their home to document Jasper.Their baby boy. He is sooo cute, even when he gives you the frown. A little heart breaker in the making.

Working with babies is fun. It takes a little longer, but they don’t need any direction, every side is their best and they naturally just strike the best pose.

Liz and John, thank you for letting me document Jasper at this age. xx

Jonas Peterson

I got a huge glass jar, copious amounts of sweets and handed them over as a gift. To my 8 year old nephew this was like a little slice of heaven being handed to him. Because I didn’t know how many sweets would fit in the jar I bought extra.Just to be safe, I mean who likes a half empty jar of sweets? The surplus ones I put in the cupboard for another time. To be honest I completely forgot about them until I found them the other day. 4 Bags of sweets left over. But the problem is every time I walk past the cupboard I have a one.Or two. Now there is one and half bags left. I cant seem to get past the cupboard without a treat. Jonas Petersons blog is the same. I cant go on the net without having a peak. His work amazes me. Like, I want to have his vision and mad skills for a day just to see how things look. Every  picture he takes is beautiful and from the heart. He isn’t just giving you a wedding album, he’s giving you a work of art. Each time i see one of his images it makes me want to shoot more.Be more. Tell your story more.

Here are a couple of pictures I took whilst out walking this past week. Early morning fog can make anything look pretty.

Some place warm.

SMy office is like a fridge freezer,my right hand was going stiff,so I’ve packed up and moved somewhere warmer. Today im working from the kitchen table.I’ve been bracing myself for the cold to hit – I mean it had to had some point but now that it’s here I would prefer for it to go back where it came from. And the best part is that this isn’t even the real cold, this is the warm up for the real thing.{Help}

Being productive and sorting through my files, I came back across holiday pictures from this year. Me and Jim took a 3 week road trip just before wedding season to San Francisco, LA and Belize. I never posted our last stop and I will do a proper one, one day. But, today I just wanted to share a place where its warm. All the time.

Ideas,crazes and amazing clients.

If you looked round my house, you would see the remnants of my ‘ideas’,'crazes’ or ‘hobbies’! For instance the guitar – I wanted to be a maker of music. The excessive amount of cake tins – a cheesecake business was sure to take off,I knew it.The cut out recipes all over my fridge door – a new culinary delight every week, to widen the palette .Radom bags of material – this happened after watching Coco before Chanel,it made creating dresses look easy. The Italian language CD- It would be easier to trace back my family roots if I could speak the language fluent. But, when I played with photography – it stuck and my camera is now an extension of me.Now I get to do this as my job, and I not only love it, I’m thankful for it.

This past saturday was my last wedding of the year. The weather was being difficult, teasing with blue skies and then thrashing with rain and wind. But my clients  were amazing and played outside, even if it was freezing! This is just a little taster from the day, but its clients like this that make my heart sing.

I cant wait to show you more.

Home made Pom Poms.

A while ago me and Jim surprised his mum in the park with a picnic for her birthday. One of the things we used to decorate were these really cute and easy to make pom poms. We hung from the tress above the table and they really did look quite pretty. A friend asked me how to make them, so  I thought I would share it here as well.

This is how I used them…

What you need.

*Tissue paper

*Scissors

*white wire  ideally ( i only had blue)

*floral wire

Steps

1.Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inchwide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.

2.Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.

3.Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.

4.Tie a length of monofilament to floral wire for hanging.

Step 5. Discard any bits of tissue paper onto your four legged helper! ;-)

Roost

Yesterdays sharing day was replaced with my excitement of being featured,so today I am sharing with you instead.

This weeks blog – I love. Roost. This website to me is beautiful. Coco, the lady behind Roost started the blog as a place to share her recipes, as her and her husband were adjusting their diet. But, it evolved into something more than that. Coco writes in a beautiful way. She takes the mouth watering images of food that makes you want to get  your butt into the kitchen and create something. And then there’s the presentation. Oh this makes me swoon. Culinary delights wrapped in papers and cloths, tied with string  and leaves, placed in rustic bowls. It seems anything she produces just looks amazing.

I have actually followed one of her recipes {the apple butter}. It was so easy to follow and tasted delicious! So, why not have a scroll throgh her site and see if there is anything that takes your fancy? im sure you’ll find something.

And because a post is always better with a picture, here is a mini apple pie i made.
