Featured on Bijoux Bride.

So, during the course of the year I sat down and make some goals. Some were personal, some were business. This is my first  year of actually running  a business so it made sense to  get something targets in place. One of my goals was to be featured  either online or print. Towards the back end of the year I sat with Jim and we talked about how things were going and I said that I stil havenet been featured. He asked if I had submitted. I said no. Simple really. If we dont put the effort in to achieving how do we expect to achieve?

I already knew which wedding that I wanted to submit, and I knew where I would love to see it. Plus, my brides work so hard to produce the BEST days that I would like to give them some love back to. So, I got the details of how to submit.Submitted. Then recieved an email – saying it was to be published!  I pulled out happy dance moves that MJ would have been proud of. This morning you can see my feature on the beautiful Bijoux Bride blog!

The wedding that I featured was Jessicas and Jason. You can see their engagement picture here and I have posted a few of their beautiful day below!! xx

Happy Wednesday!

Elijah.

I came over the moors and the fog was showing no signs of lifting.  I knew that everything was going to be shot inside today. I arrived at the house and he was still asleep. As always I waste no time in getting him for a cuddle, he stirs a little, gives me a peak with one eye {far too much effort to open them both},then back to the  land of nod.  When he finally decides to wake up, he has a little hair wash – which dries into the biggest Barnet.Ever.Then we style him in his Hippo outfit. He’s looking super cute and we’re ready to rock. Next we took him downstairs, and positioned him in front of the window – where we could get all the natural light. And then we began. Now in all honesty I don’t think he is a massive fan of being photographed.Yet. But he will learn to love it.

I  suppose at 3 weeks old you can get away with  doing nothing but eating and sleeping. I’m expecting more by week four! ;-)

So here is Elijah, my SUPER cute nephew.

If you would like me to documemt your babys first weeks or months just give me an email and lets chat. I still have some spaces before christamas available & vouchers are available too!

Bijoux Bride.

Sometimes creating can be hard work. Sometimes you know exactly the look and style you want.Other times you get nothing. Your brain stops. Refuses to express any personality or ideas and your flat. I know  - I’m in the middle of a site redesign and right now my brain is acting like the latter part. Giving me nada. Zip. Zero. Nothing. Having a little help, can be just the push or jump-start that you need. I find mine all over. I have magazines ear marked on the pages I like. Websites star’ed on the mac. Books highlighted or scribbled on. {and I say scribble because my writing can sometimes look like that of a child’s.}

Being a bride there are so many avenues to go down, ideas and themes that I’m sure it can all get a bit over whelming. Well today Im going to share a bit of inspirational love and gift you the gift of Bijoux Bride. This site  is fab. Louise {the brains behind the site} makes the best mood boards, features inspiring vendors and updates daily. And even if it’s not a wedding your planning you can take ideas for any event, party, social night – anything. So take a look, if for no other reason to see how pretty it is.

And because a post is always better with a picture. A couple of shots from a walk I was on the other day. Happy Wednesday.

Maisie and Megan.

I mentioned last week, the joy of having repeat clients. It means more than people know.A couple of Saturdays ago I had the privilege of documenting a member of the Brown family again – this time with an extra one! I first documented Maisie when she was just able to sit up straight-ish. This time she is so much bigger and running! She was joined by her older cousin Megan but they have a friendship more like sisters. It’s so sweet to see.

This session was so much fun.Partly because we had fab weather, partly because our location was so pretty, but mostly because the two girls were allowed to run free, laugh and be themselves. There were no forced smiles – parents – thank you…  You were happy walking up and down the paths and letting the girls do their thing…

Here are just a few that make me smile. Happy Tuesday. x

8 years.

He was the first baby in our family . I remember seeing for the first time in the hospital. We arrived  with ballons and cards and we all just loved him. 8 years since then have flown. On saturday we had a humble party at my house for him. There wasn’t a elaborate buffet or a mountain of presents. But their was a whole family together. One of my favourite things has always been the sound of the dinner table. Family and friends being together. And these  fews hours were like music to my ears.

Happy Birthday Riley. Lots and Lots of love xx

The motley crew!

Nikolo

It’s such a nice thing to book clients and have them trust you. Its something extra when they ask you again. And again. The Biondo family first booked me for their wedding. Then the lovely Nikolo came along and we documented his early months. Last week they invited me back to document him a year on. And wow – how much has he changed. Even more cute and adorable. It was so nice to go back and see them all.

The first time I documented him, I walked into the living room and saw their wedding pictures on the wall. And my smile was huge. Those pictures make me go back to their day – and I remember how great it was and what a good time everyone had. This time I walked in,saw their wedding pictures and some of Nikolo’s early months shoot. My smile was huge. Giving people something as simple as a picture, that they keep, and adorn their walls with will never tire for me. Ever. So this is the  bigger and super cute Nikolo. In his home, with no backdrops, just the way things normally are. Real smiles and hearty giggles. x

Beth Jones Style.

So onto week 2 of sharing Wednesdays. This week I want to share with you a fashion blog. This is on my daily go to’s. One that I want to look at just because. Let me introduce you to Bjones Syle. I am definitely no fashionista but I love coming to this blog to get ideas for outfits and just to see what Beth has thrown together. Everyday she updates her blog with her look of the day.She shops a ton of vintage and thrift shops with a few thrown in designer pieces, and definitely isn’t scared to try new looks and mix items that you wouldn’t normally think would go.Her philosophy is to look great even when going to the grocery store.

So,take a look… enjoy.

And in light of todays fashion post here is a new purchase. An owl ring….

F.A.Q Children shoots.

I have recently been asked a few questions by clients and thought that I would share a few of my thoughts here. The topic mainly being in regards to children’s shoots.  I know there are quite a few who would rather not venture down this avenue as it can be quite time-consuming – and that’s true. But it is also fun.

Do you use backdrops and flash?

No.The majority of children’s shoots that I do are outside , the exceptions beings new borns and infants. I personally prefer natural light and like to work with this as much as possible. This remains the same if i have to shoot in doors. I will work where there is the most natural light. I don’t carry back drops for newborns or baby’s, but I may use throws and  baskets etc. I class myself as a lifestyle photographer, and your home and your surroundings work just fine for me.

What clothes are best for them to wear?

Now, as much as I would love to be, I am no fashionista. My 5-year-old niece is more stylish than me! But, what I do know works on camera is colour – especially for children. I would suggest pops of colour in their outfit. Bright shoes,dress,trousers, accessories.. some injection of colour I think works best. Also, think ahead for the location and weather. This time of year is perfect for Muddy fields and Wellington’s. Imagine being 5 and having to walk past a huge puddle of mud because of not having the right type of footwear. Not happy.

What is your shooting style?

Hopefully by the time my clients have decided that they want to book me for their shoot, they have seen either my website, blog or if a recommendation pictures from a friends shoot. My style is relaxed and fun – and I hope this come across in the pictures. I like to give your child a chance to know me without having a camera in front of them straightaway . So, I will talk to them for a while and get them used to me. In quite a few shoots we will let the parents linger behind, so they can get passed the shyness and concentrate on the fun. Because,at the very heart of it, it  has to be fun. Children will let you know when it is not and when they  have had enough. My aim is to capture your child being them.Real smiles, muddy knees, missing teeth.Every stage is beautiful!

I hope this helps for anyone else considering booking me for a children’s shoot. If anyone has any questions I would love to hear from you. Please fee free to send me an email – natasha@margauritaphotography.com

And if anyone would like more information on a children’s shoot or obtaining a  voucher there are still some places left – take a look at the website  - http://childrens-portraits.margauritaphotography.com

Barry white and Benylin.

He looks at me like I did something wrong – nearly a full of bottle of Benylin – already? It was about 3, Id got it at 8 that morning. But it makes me feel better… Since last weekend I have had such a rubbish cold. I have sounded like Barry White most of the time crossed with weezing Ed. Not hot. But, now the end of the week has come around things are looking up. I have booked a wedding (yay). Had my papa help with new flooring in the office (to help with my office envy project). Managed to bake 3 apple pies. Discovered Photojunction.Gained 2 new twitter followers.Organised my calendar (with colours).Found a new book and am sounding less like Mr B White with every shot of Benylin I take!

And just to top it off,I wanted to share just a quick sneak a peak of a baby shoot that I just shot.. Nikolo.. Handsome or what! –  I cant wait to show you the full post on Monday. Have a fabulous weekend. xx

Fat Orange Cat Studio.

The winter season is always that bit quieter than the summer months, which generally leads to less work driven posts. But I dont want my blog to become just a place of work driven ramblings. I want it to be more than that. Because i’m more than that. I love my work, but its a part of me – not just me. So even though the winter months are going to be quiter – the blog wont be. I am aiming to write at least 5 times a week.

I scour blogs everyday. Some I follow, I dont even remember how i find them. i just know that when I did I wanted to keep coming back and reading more. This brings brings me to the next part.Sharing. Every wednesday I want to share with you a blog that I read or go to.. and their not all photography based. Some blogs I follow for photography inspiration, some I follow for the simple reason of liking them… so if you want to see what other fabulous blogs are out there.. come back every Wednesday.

This Wednesday I want to share with you Fat Orange Cat Studio.

When I first came across this blog, I fell in love! The owner is a lady called Li Ward. She specialises in pet portraits, weddings and , wedding calligraphy. The first  page I ever read  was a  pet shoot that she had done. Having 2 cats myself I swooned and wanted my boys to fill a leather bound album so I could show friends and family! ;-) I kid you not. Her wedding photography is stunning. She always seems to be in the right place at the right time, adding an air of fine art to them.  If you like animals and all things pretty im quite sure you will love this. If nothing else it will make you smile. So in light of the animal portraits here is one of me and Gepeto. And yes.I realise I look like a hot mess!

Happy Wednesday & enjoy! x
