Marley

Let me introduce you to Marley a ridiculously cute little boy. When we did this shoot he was only 7 weeks old and so well behaved.I loved this session, his parents had a little set of outfit changes ready to use and they were each as sweet as the next. He even sports his own Manchester United Kit ( definitely his dads choice)!

Here are just a few from his shoot!!

Me and social media.

Twitter. If  I was being honest, at first I didn’t get it. It sounded way to self involved for me. But after having a conversation over dinner with a couple of friends I realised that actually from a business perspective it is such a great tool.  I can connect and meet so many people – more than I could have done before.  And plus, it’s a great way to see what people are doing now, work, fun or business.

Facebook – I get! When I went to Australia travelling, I started Facebook as a way to show my friends and family pictures from my trip and stay in touch. And now,it seems to be integrated into a part of the daily routine. But for business Facebook is brilliant – I can tag clients from shoots so that they can share the pictures with their friends and have them on their profile pictures etc. Another quite snazzy tool is the way that  my website and my Facebook connect. I used a hosting system called Showit ( which really are fab by the way). The idea behind showit is to give me the freedom to create – and  it does. One  of the many brilliant things is that I can create sites for my clients. These sites are tailored  and are sharable and viewable with Facebook. Another great way to show your friends and family your amazing day!

I admit, I think I have been a bit slow with the social media, but I’m getting there.. So if you do want to follow me on twitter, you can. And, if you want to check the latest on my Facebook page – you can.

And because a post is always better with a picture – I thought I would post one of me… This is the ‘please press the shutter now. Its taking too long already’ face!!

Happy Monday! x

Booth

Im not really the type the joins endless clubs and groups. But, there are some that I am partial to, one being Booth.

Booth is a completely relaxed, any level, any equipment kind of group. It’s based in Leeds and  happens once a month. Tuesday was their second meetup – and my first. The idea of the  group is to create and show images with the story behind them. Its not technically aimed at all, and if you wanted to even submit pictures from camera phones you can. Any level.Any camera. Each month they set a different challenge and then we share as a group.

It’s really quite cool and Im excited to see where this little group goes…

Allan and Emma;Wedding.

Allan and Emma married at the town hall, and  then onto Medusa for their wedding breakfast. Their wedding was very intimate with just the closest of family and friends being there.  Allan is the joker, being serious is not in his agenda. Emma is  laid back and has a laugh that comes easy. Together they work.So well.

Having know them both for a long time it was such a pleasure to document their day. See how their lives are growing, and celebrate  their future with familiar faces.

xx Happy Tuesday xx

Like father like son!

Through my eyes.

They say beauty is in the eye if the beholder, but hopefully my clients like what I see as well. At a wedding this summer a guest at the wedding tagged me on facebook in some pictures they took (yep, I like to leave with more friends that what I started with) of me shooting during the day. So, I thought I would share with you what I saw. And show you me in action.

Happy Monday xx

Rainbows and paper.

It’s like looking at a tangible rainbow, except it isn’t in the sky.And it doesn’t beam over your  head. Oh and there’s no pot of gold at the end. In fact its small and sits perfectly on your desk. In fact,to be honest its just paper!People that know me,(especially the girls)will know that I love to give out  little cards or notes from time to time. Clients will know that anything that leaves my office will have a personal note to them.Every time. I kinda like the idea of receiving them myself, so I think others do as well. I love to get little bits of random stationary when I see it from different places and collect them. If you can recommend good suppliers/online boutiques inbox me… please ;-)

This week I picked up a little new box to add to my collection. A Rainbow.Kind of.

Happy Friday.

Ahead of Dexterity.

Since I can remember I have always has long hair. Apart from one time when I was about 7 it got cut short.Ever since then its always been long. And its not because I dont like short hair,I do. In fact I would love to have the guts to go shorter but for me,long hair is easier. Anyway Im going off point  - this blog post is to tell you about a styled hair shoot that I did with the ever fabulous Amanda – from Ahead of Dexterity.  Amanda is a hair dresser turned teacher (of hair dressing) and has recently started a wedding hair company business. Specialising in long hair.  With having long myself I know that i would  defitnley have mine styled on my wedding day as a way of alleviating stress. And because  I know some one could defiantly style it better than me.If I was going to employ anyone it would be her. Not only can she create beautifully styled  hair, she is fun, witty and a complete perfectionist!

Amanda is just in the process of getting a brand spanking new website together. So if you would like to contact her in regards to your  day – please use the following details.

Comfort zones and Lemon cupcakes.

I know that it isnt really in my healthy eating – lose 7lbs regime –  but I  really just cant help myself. My excuse is that I like the atmosphere and the whole vibe it gives. Plus it serves up beautiful green tea in a very pretty china cup. Love Rouge – my new little haunt. Its a new bakery on Headingley main street. Its Cath Kidston  style but without being too much. And I like it.

My aim though was to get out and write. Me and my friend have kept a  journal to each other for years. I  felt it needed some updates and I needed a change of scenery. I took my camera as well, to remember to keep shooting the life in between and to step  out of my comfort zone.  I read a great quote though other day – funnily enough it is pinned onto the notice board in the bakery –  which is full of good luck cards for the girls that run it. It says ‘ Life begins at the end of your comfort zone’.Sometimes you   I can feel intimidated to shoot what I want to.The way I see things. I feel people are asking why would or are you taking a picture of that. But its all personal right? So even if its one lemon cupcake picture at a time – Im stepping out.

Happy Wednesday. x

Office Envy and Nevada Dessert Flower

This morning I woke up with a slight bit of office envy. At the minute I dream about having big windows and blank walls to fill with as I please – in a completley seperate space – my own space. I think the ultimate would to be have an actual place where I could meet clients. Where I could adorn the work with art and my images and have the constant fresh scent of the Nevada Dessert Flower or Japan Tatami (we’ve all seen the Ambi Pur adverts). So as i scrolled through the internet looking for inspiration i thought I would share a few with you.

Happy Tuesday.
