Richard and Tina.

Richard and Tina married at the Crab & Lobster  a few Fridays ago. And, their wedding was fabulous. Really. Tina wore a beautiful Mori Lee gown and had fabulous flora created Flower Couture.

The Crab and Lobster is a very quirky venue. I loved it. The ceremonies are held in the manor house and the reception in the restaurant. The manicures gardens are brilliant  - a perfect back drop for pictures.

With a 3pm ceremony the lead up to the wedding was calm and exciting. What I loved most about their wedding was them. And their love. They smiled (big smiles) all the way through the ceremony, even a remark was made by the registrar. I believe she noted it as refreshing. Refreshing to see a very happy couple on a very happy day.

Richard and Tina opted for speeches before dinner. They were full of heartfelt & meant words. Embarrassing stories and pictures. But mainly full of laughter.

Richard and Tina – thankyou for letting me capture your day. I know you will have a future full of refreshing love.

Time.

Sometimes it  feels like there is just never enough of it.Time that is.When you feel like your week needs another day or your day some extra hours… A wedding day can sometimes feel like a few extra hours wouldn’t go a miss. I know that even the most well executed of wedding  itineraries can leave the photographer clutching for extra minutes here and there, not that it is a complaint, our jobs are to capture the day – as it unfolds. However, the pictures that are generally the heirlooms are the formal portraits and the couple portraits, so,when the bride and  groom allocate extra time for these pictures I think the overall end result is better. Not the quality but the variety.

As a wedding photographer I obviously attend a lot of weddings (yes, I know this job is FAB) and a common thread that I see is the lack of time that the couple actually have together.Just the two of them.Obviously all your family and friends want to talk to you and you to them, but, and this is just a personal perspective.I think that some time together during your day, just the two of you, to soak up the moment,to appreciate each other and remember – is such a beautiful part of your day. Therefore allocating 30 to 45 minutes (more would be excellent) just for yourselves, allows you to create a much more varied and intimate portfolio of your day.

Wow – quite a big one for me. And this is just my perspective and may not be everyone’s but it is just food for thought as they…

And just a little taster from last weeks styled shoot.

Ian and Hannah; Fountains Abbey

I remember leaving their house and being filled with excitement. Genuine excitement. We met for a consultation  so they could see some sample albums and check that I wasn’t a fruit loop, and as they talked about their wedding details I so wanted to be apart of their day. A few days later I received an email asking me to document their wedding – I disguise the fruit loop thing very well. ;-)

Last week we met at Fountains Abbey for their pre-wedding shoot or engagement session as our stateside friends say. And,it was Fab. Sure the wind was playing up and it rained here and there. But, we were having such a good time that it didn’t bother anyone. It least bothered Ian and Hannah who are so happy. Genuinely happy together. Ian has a knack of being able to make Hannah laugh so easily. Ian & Hannah I cant wait for your  wedding,I know that it is going to be nothing short of Fabulous!

Here are just a few of  my favourites…

Happy Wednesday! x

Me.Myself.And I.

I sat on the side as he prepared my breakfast (Yes, he is very well trained good to me) and as I rambled about the difficulty of new branding, he simply asked the questions. Who are you? and  What defines you?   Hmmph! I sat there and hmmphed! The truth is I couldn’t answer,I honestly didn’t/dont know. If you asked me my favourite colour I might tell you blue – but I love yellow just as much.My favourite meal – lasagne, but I could eat sushi  all night(or until completely full). Favourite item of jewellery - necklace, but I never leave home without wearing a ring. You see my problem?! Just as your taste in fashion changes or evolves,so does your idea of style.I suppose this applies to my images as well. So my new quest to enable me to complete No.2 of my business changes is to find me.Myself. And I.

If anyone knows of any good pointers here – help a girl out  - and drop me a line.. ;-)

But, I am, certain that this is one of my favourite holiday pictures.EVER.

Happy Tuesday.

Handwritten letters.

Its the handwriting.Always. Seeing a handwritten letter in the post  makes me smile!  This letter was no exception. I arrived home from holiday and sifted through the mail to find a letter, hand written, addressed to me. It was a letter from Christine and Kevin, thanking me for their pictures.

Being able to have a job that I LOVE, will never get tired. And it is me that should  say thank you. To you. x

Olivia & Finlay.

I would knock on strangers doors for fun if I could be guaranteed a door opening in the same way that Vicki’s did. We had only ever spoke over email, but  I was greeting with the BIGGEST hug anyone (that I didn’t know) had given me before. But this is how Olivia  opens doors – with a big smile and a bigger hug. Olivia is Vicki’s 5-year-old daughter, Finlay is her s 20 month old son and they are fab!

I wanted to keep this post small, with just a few of my favourites – but I had to many so instead I  just made it big ;-)  x

Vicki, you have beautiful children who are so lovely… x
